The Mini Gastric Bypass is a newer version of the older and more traditional Roux En Y Gastric Bypass. It is both restrictive and malabsorptive. It aims to provide all of the benefits of weight from a gastric bypass while lessening the risks of potential complications. It has one anastomoses and bypasses between 150 to 200cm of small bowel. It also in theory has less potential complications when compared to the more traditional Roux En Y gastric bypass.
It provides excellent weight loss. One of the potential side effects of this operation is; that it certain patients it can see patients suffer with reflux disease.
